Selective striping, used in conjunction with reel-to-reel plating, applies a metal finish continuous strip stock. This targeted approach is ideal improving the properties of specific areas, helping vital components remain in service longer while reducing overall plating costs.

How Selective Stripe Plating Works

We start by pre-treating your metal parts to remove any surface contaminants that could interfere with the plating solution’s adhesion. Then, we mask the parts to ensure that the finish is applied only where it’s needed. A single continuous mask often yields the most uniform results.

Once the parts are properly masked and electrically charged, they pass through the plating process. The electrolyte solution is applied to the exposed areas.

If your project requires multiple metal finishes, the process is repeated for each coating, ensuring consistent application every time.

Benefits of Selective Stripe Plating

Cost-Effectiveness: Uses less plating solution overall, reducing waste and lowering project costs.

Consistency: Delivers uniform, repeatable results across all parts.

Targeted Application: Deposits plating material precisely where it’s needed to extend part life, maintain performance and improve solderability.

Versatility: Ideal for a range of industrial and manufacturing applications.

Our Capabilities

To upgrade the performance, integrity or appearance of your parts, American Electro Products can apply:

  • Masking to one or both sides of your parts.
  • Multiple stripes as needed.
  • One or more finishes to continuous strip stock.
  • A variety of metal coatings and other non-precious metals.
